Public Lands Information Center Privacy Policy
Your privacy is important to the Public Lands Interpretive Association (PLIA). This statement discloses the information practices for the Public Lands Information Center (PLIC) website, including what type of information is gathered and tracked, how the information is used, and with whom the information is shared.
Personal information
In general, you can visit our site without telling us who you are and without revealing any information about yourself. We do need your personal information when you place an order, but that information is transmitted securely, then deleted from our online database once your order is filled. We do not share our customer lists with anybody, for any reason. We also will not send you unsolicited mail; if you write us with a request, you can expect to hear back promptly, but otherwise, we leave you alone.
Information security and quality
We intend to protect the quality and integrity of your personally identifiable information. We have implemented appropriate technical and organizational measures, such as using encryption for transmission of credit card numbers, to help us keep your information secure, accurate, current, and complete.
We will make a sincere effort to respond in a timely manner to your requests to correct inaccuracies in your personal information. To correct inaccuracies in your personal information please return the message containing the inaccuracies to the sender with details of the correction requested.
Cookies
The PLIC is primarily written with PHP, a computer programming language that allows the user to access a vast amount of information quickly and easily. This language does require that the user accept a cookie, which does not get written to your hard drive, but gets sent back to our server, establishing an individual user session for your computer. Most of our site will not work if you do not accept this cookie. The Public Lands Museum is accessible without accepting a cookie.
The cookies do provide us with anonymous information from visits, which we use to provide better customer service. For example, we keep track of the domains from which people visit (referring sites) and we also measure visitor activity on our site, but we do so in ways that keep the information anonymous. This anonymous information is sometimes known as ìclickstream data.î On occasion, we share the statistics about use on our site with our partners in the Bureau of Land Management and the USDA Forest Service, but we do not share the data itself with anyone.
Children's data
We are committed to comply with applicable laws and requirements, such as the United Statesí Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

The Public Lands Information Center contain links to other web sites. PLIA is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such web sites.
